Need help with peep sights.

So i finally got a chance to run my carbine and wanted to dial in the Magpul plastc BUIS. I know they are not the best, but its what I got for now.

I used a bipod for accuracy but I was torquing the lightweight handguard and after a mag I realized the error. (Yes it was dumb, you may laugh and point)

But even after undoing the bad adjustment I could notaim very well and the target looked like buckshot. ..
It was an indoor range at a 100 yards, and i used the smaller aperture of sandbags. Light was meh so it was hard to see the orange circle but still I want to do better.

So seriously folks I need help on using the peeps. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Aperture type sights (peep sights) are pretty straight forward and easy to use.

I'm not sure what the issue might be.

I've shot the standard AR sights out to 600 yards with no issues. At 100 yards with crappy ammo I can usually shoot groups around 1" to 2" with a solid rest and good technique.

Focus on the top of the front sight and your eye will center authomatically.
Zero at 25 yds and it will be dead on at 300.
For 100 yds have a 6 oclock hold.

Keep you focus on the front sight only, never switch to target or the group goes to hell.

What Essabye and Bellavitte said is bang on. Your eye cannot focus on three points at once.
Focus on your front with the target as a background.
Your not going to get MOA with irons.

I can hold 1/2- 1 MOA with my match irons all day. No rests just a sling....

get yourself elf out to an Appleseed and learn how to use those sights and a sling. The skills will transfer to scopes as well.

One thing that helps me a lot with load development and iron sights is picking a target that's easy to line up the same way each time. A big black bullseye, for example, isn't very conducive to pinpoint accuracy. The front sight gets lost in the black. I tend to prefer black diamonds and a "lollipop" hold. In other words, the top of the sight is at the very bottom tip of the diamond. Another one I like for irons is a big black circle with a white square in the middle.

It could also be that your gun doesn't like the load you're shooting.

...and it's not often I disagree with Burt, but I get MOA groups with handloads and non free-floated barrel AR's with some regularity.

Perhaps my MOA statement is too general.
I feel for the AVERAGE shooter MOA @ 100yds is not typical.
I can't do it and I am way below average.
