    Default WAR ON WOMEN

One of their own no less. BUT........ is it HEADLINE NEWS. of course not since it wasn't a Republican who said NO. If she had an abortion they'd be calling her a hero.

Then there's the broader issue of the Democrats' messaging strategy. Party leaders, particularly Pelosi, have spent years trying to highlight the distinctions between the Democrats and Republicans when it comes to issues of women's empowerment. With that in mind, some fear Pelosi's move to deny a proxy vote for a pregnant member undercuts the message that Democrats are the party of working women, a charge Pelosi rejects.

Apparently there's mire to the story. I will look for a source link, but this is political posturing in that there is a committee chair or something, that one of Pelosi's minions is a candidate for, but Duckworth is supporting a different D for the spot. Like I said, I will try to find facts.
Political infighting; but either way it gives good exposure to how much if a twatwaffle Pelosi is. And BOTH sides of the aisle are talking about it.

It strikes me as political posturing, but rules are rules.

I have to agree with her on this. How can they verify that the absent member is the one casting the vote?

Stretch it a bit further and it sounds like pelosi supports voter id to make sure the person voting is the one who is supposed to be voting.

it's a democrat party rule not House or Senate rules. One they can change or amend for specific circumstances.

    CBS News.com article

    A portion of the article:

The vote has been cast as a kind of for-Pelosi v against-Pelosi battle. Pallone is supported by Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Maryland.
    And from NationalJournal.com article

The seat is being vacated by retiring Rep. Henry Waxman.

None of the caucus's top leaders, including Pelosi, are being directly challenged in their bids to reclaim their posts. But both Rep. Anna Eshoo of California, who is backed by Pelosi for the Energy Committee ranking member's seat, and Rep. Frank Pallone of New Jersey, who is backed by Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, are battling to convince a majority of House Democrats to vote for them.

Duckworth is among those who have thrown her support behind Pallone—against Pelosi's choice of Eshoo.

Other than the entertainment value of watching the democrats eat their own, I'm trying to figure out why I should care about this. Those sorry bastards will have the smallest minority in the house in decades and nobody's gonna give a rat's ass what they think come late Jan.
