you should have just worked with the dude. we KNOW that these libtards are fucking idiots...but they are making the move to come over to gun ownership. then you treat them like shit....I understand the guy is retarded and needs training, but those are the people you take to the range, treat them like a 5 year old with a gun, safety first, only cover what you are willing to destroy, and build them up.

you can turn these people and you blow them off like that? that is stupid.

You shoulda told him that carrying an unloaded gun is just like hanging an empty fire extinguisher on the wall to "scare the fire out".

I like the comparison to educating a child. Obviously the coworker needs to start from a more basic point than getting a CCW permit. I hope you do everyone a favor and point him in the right direction to some basic education.

I think what you had here was someone who was ignorant, but not stupid. He appears to be intelligent enough, but lacked the knowledge or experience to understand the information. Educate the ignorant, ignore the stupid.

I think you missed a chance to educate someone and bring them into the fold. Sure you can joke about some of their responses and make lite of the situation, but I still believe you missed an opportunity. I've had the fortune to educate many of my co-workers and even brought 3 folks around to getting their CCW's. Not bad for a tree-hugging conservation agency.

If I were him, I would have called you an asshole also, then again I wouldn't be asking questions like that.

With that said, I still find it rather hilarious that my non gun owning friends think that I am required to have "papers" to even own my pistol. They are even more suprised when I tell that that the only "papers" required are if I were to carry the gun loaded and hidden while out in public.(not in vehicle) Most don't believe me that you can carry a loaded gun in your car however you want. Kalifornia Mindset indeed.

Why are you guys giving the OP shit?! He clearly stated in his follow up post that this guy is not a sensible/intelligent man and backed it up with the whole story. He then said he apologized for coming off as a dick. People here just like beating a dead horse I guess.

If confronted with the truth and you argue about it... I would have turned up the asshole-ness towards him or ignored him altogether. But I'm just a dick I guess. "F" him for being born so freaking terarted. Move on to the next potential cross over with a brain.

And don't buy into this ....you got to coddle people shit! Laws are laws. They are even written down on paper. If you can't read and believe...well I think I already covered this. Grown people aren't the ones "we" should be focusing on anyways. Its this guys kids. Hopefully he has none so not to pass the dumb gene.

Guess that will get a rebuttal......

None intended Foxtrot. if anyone is willing to help out the uninformed, it's me. I'm always trying to convert people, and have done that quite a bit lately. I convinced my mother, at the age of 59, to shoot a gun for the first time in her life. She's always hated them, because she had an irrational fear of them.

I finally convinced her to come to the range with me, and just try out a dinky .22, and she flinched real hard when she pulled the trigger and then was like "Wow, that wasn't bad at all!" And then promtply emptied the whole magazine. Fast forward a year later, she now owns a .38 and shoots regularly. Even wants to go hunting.

I would have been more than happy to educate this gentelman, if he were sincere. He just kept arguing with me, telling me that I was wrong and "Someday I'd be arrested" Like someone else said, you can fix ignorant, you can't fix stupid.
I spent my Obama Stimulus money on a GUN!

Lesson to learn here: If they ask a stupid question, TEACH them the answer. Emphasize safety points. Theres an extreme lack of good experience in the firearm world, you can't blame people for NOT knowing. It's selfish not to share yours! It's okay to tease, it is NOT okay to be a turd, even if they act retarded. Now your one hash mark on the chalk board for him not wanting to own firearms at all - which then waters down to include his wife, his children in the future, his neighbors.. etc.

I don't mean to sound mean here or anything - I just hate seeing the "ignorance" of helping people in its own kind all around me. No offense intended.
Ignorance is not offensive, but when you combine it with arrogance, the result is stupidity, which others have asserted cannot (maybe should not) be fixed. I myself will endeavor to educate the ignorant, but am reluctant to attempt to help those that already "know it all".

He could actually be from California you know. They can open carry there, but the gun has to be unloaded.
