We are a scared, scarred people with fear in our hearts. It used to be that would get ya a talking to by the principle.... now they are inept figureheads that run to the guys with guns at first blink. How sad it is. The Sheep have inherited the earth.

Be careful of what you folks say at the dinner table. Public schools are places of indoctrination. Of course stuff like the OP happens at the school.

Badly worded email. And the whole thing is stupid.

But on the other hand, when I first read it... some parent called the school to report their kid was upset and made threats about the school. If that did happen, then I'd sure as heck want a trained person on-site to separate the kid and find out what's going on ASAP. No resource officer/deputy is going to take a risk if something like that happens, so he called for backup.

I dunno... the whole tone of it changes if you assume the parent called to warn the school, vs. casually mentioning the kid was having a bad day and making stupid kid-threats. Hard to know what actually happened.

Had something similar happen back in the small town I'm from in Nebraska last year. Other than a weird email like this, very little information got out to the general public. But the actual details were much more scary.

And that email was sent out to the entire population of parents. It was intended to bolster the illusion that the school and police are there to protect all of the children. It is sort of what governments do.

After being a victim of a violent crime, how many of those meaningful, "We stopped 100 other violent crimes" emails would you care about?

Was the student charged? What went on between the officer and student that convinced the officer to remove the student from the school? How long before the student's parents were notified and responded to the Justice Center? I am sure there are plenty more questions that could be asked, but that email was not about answering questions as it was about reassuring the concerned parents who will be hearing the third hand gossip from their children this evening, that the government employees responsible for the institution were on the job and looking out for little Johnny and Suzie.

Good job. Move along citizens. Nothing to see here.

Which leads to the next question[s]

How weak were the parents to allow this kid to go to school instead of staying home and dealing with it? Or are they social climbers and taking a day off for a child who needs some loving is not in their playbook.

Why IF true was the school notified, then LE instead once again, of the parents dealing with it? Is their kid that much of a danger to people? if that were the case why , why, why?
Answers parents will never get, school admin deflects any real conversation.

Meanwhile the Littleton School district has still failed to fire the principal and other school staff over that shooting. MEANWHILE supporting more gun control ignoring the real issues they face.

    This!
So you have a kid, who makes, from what I could tell by a vaguely worded email (more facts are needed), an unspecified potential threat to the school, they send little Johnny off to school, once he's out of the house they call the school and just have the SRO and other local Deputies do the job of disciplining the child by putting them into the system. I see wonderful things in this kid's future! Instead of parenting the child, let's put a big black mark on his reputation and possibly his juvenile record, which could lead to future problems down the road. I fear for our nation's future if more and more parents relinquish their parental responsibilities.

This was my first thought. Why TF did the parent even drop the kid off? Maybe he or she took the bus (many of us drive our kids up here), that would mean even more buffer time to keep the kid home for some "home schooling".

WHY on earth would a parent let a child go to school if they believed them to be a threat?

That said, we do not know the details, so we are all just making stuff up based on an administrators response to something we really don't have any clue about.
Yes. And we'll never know a clue about.

Man. My little girl just turned 2 yo and I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out how we can home school her. Jesus, we can barely make it with our 2 incomes now. And no, we don't live high on the hog. Shit man, I'm still recovering from being laid off and unemployed for while.

<deep breath> ok, I have a few years to figure it out.

Edit: the Great K and Ronin responded while I was typing my response and parenting. You guys were right on too.

WTF!! Parents send the potentially dangerous kid to school and then calls to warn them about their little angle?! The last thing the kid needs is more time at home with the useless parents.
