I'm waiting from word from a dear old friend/college roommate who's a Capt. with the Richmond Heights PD. Richmond Heights is 10-13 miles from Ferguson, which is several metro communities away, yet...).

I remember when he went thru the St. Louis Metro Police Academy. By then I was at my first duty station 20 miles across the Mississippi River from St. Louis into IL. We got together a lot during those days & he always felt he needed to use me to practice the holds, pressure point applications, take-downs, etc. on me.

Praying his family stays safe.

yeah. That same President who was supposed to heal racial strife in this country (or so we were told when he initially ran for POTUS).

I've seen more racial disharmony during his term in office than any other time in my 49 years. Maybe, prayerfully, when he leaves office our country can begin to truly heal from all of the harm to race relations we've been experiencing. Over the last 7 years we've undone at least 40 years of progress. Very sad.

Prayers for anyone in the fray... and for those that are in urban areas- that they may have peace to be able to rest, but the wisdom and discernment to awake and act if required.

I know if I was in any urban area I wouldn't sleep at all tonight... but I'm paranoid.

I'll avoid the obvious discussions about our administration- I doubt there's anything they could do right now to quell the violence- even if they wanted to.

If I remember correctly, they'd stated that most of these protesters are actually not residents of Ferguson- they arrive in cars and on buses are just come for the looting and rabblerousing.

Had anyone else heard that?

Why aren't they using the fire hose? It's a chilly night; I imagine cold water might be a proverbial and literal solution to drive many of them away...
