Just a quick question, when you guys are at the firing range, what distance do you usually put your target at for handguns?

10 yards generally. No where in my house is there a distance greater than 10 yards so I stick to that for the most part.
7 yards for most shooting. If I am standing still, then I put them as far as I feel like walking to change targets. Besides, I can't see the holes real well past 25 yards.
All of our requal courses except one, go from 1.5 yards to 25 yards. For our annual in-service we used to shoot our last string at 50 yards. The times were ridiculously long on that string (I don't recall how long for three rounds but it was somewhere between 15 and 20 seconds from the draw). One qual course for a certain agency was all done at 7 yards. The trick on that course was timing, with lots of emphasis on split times. I still enjoy shooting that course, but it takes a bit of practice to get the rhythm down.
