Usually between 7 and 15 yds, but I like to play around at 50 or even 100yds sometimes with steel. I can usually hit a 12" steel round at 100 yds about 1/4 of the time with a G19.
At 7-15yds, I like to practice shooting from odd positions: simulating getting knocked over or tripping over a curb before/while trying to stop a threat. I also like to practice engaging a target while moving laterally - "Get off the X" so to speak. Admittedly, I don't spend enough time shooting or practicing weapon manipulation with my left hand

Between 1 and 50 yards, depending on the stage/drill. But the preponderance of them are at 7yards.

I shoot my handguns between 7 and 10 yards.
Like a few here I start at arms length then go to 3 yards, 5, 7, 10, 15 and a few at 25. This is my normal warm up drill. If I'm practicing my sd skills I vary from arms length to 10, all done from the holster. After I'm done with that it's fun to just try different distances though my range is limited to running targets at 25 yards max. The last advanced class I took the instructor had us take a few shots at steel targets at 50 and 100 yards. That was fun.
