    Default Modem with router????

Well the wife set up internet and phone at our new place. She told them we would buy the modem. She has school tomorrow so she elected me to get one in the morning....

What the hell is a Modem? What the hell is a router? What the hell is a modem with a router??

I anyone has any suggestions, I'd like to get it from Walmart in Woodland Park so I don't have to go the springs.

Thanks, and sorry for what I'm sure is a stupid question.

What kind of service? DSL or Cable? In all honesty get a separate router, so it's 2 pieces yes, but typically performs better, and if one fails, you don't have to buy both again.

I agree. Get separate devices. In most cases, performance is better.

Modem is how your network talks to the world. Router is how your network connects to the modem (and provides wifi)

The people you get your internet from. Internet service provider.

I'll look around for the modem in the morning. You could always use theirs for a bit and send it back.

The provider should have a compatibility list for DSL modems.

If you go to the nearest Best Buy, they can tell you exactly which products will work with your ISP. You'll pay through the teeth for it if you buy from them, though.
