    Default Obama care question

So with the new requirements if say my new employer offered health care for me but it was to expensive for the family what are my options? My wife's employer doesn't offer insurance for her, could they get on something else or would we be stuck getting it through my employer and paying stupid money?

They take household income in to the equation, she can apply for her own ins. My spouse has, better sit down when the numbers come back. Unfortunately either way you / we're fukd.

It's become easier to understand how some folks decide to take PT jobs vs FT with the hit the .gov and Ins puts on you. You go over say $20K for income the ins runs $4 - 600 per mth not including the $45 - 6500 deductible.

You have to pick a policy through the exchange http://connectforhealthco.com/ and they have a thing there where you can find out what your subsidy will be. If you hunt down insurance on your own without the exchange (which is what I've done most of my adult life) you may find a better deal but you won't qualify for any of the subsidies so you'll end up paying more.

If you don't buy insurance they will fine you down the road (I think the IRS does it and basically they fine you by withholding it from your tax refund ... not sure what they do to you if you don't have a refund coming).

My wife and I lost our insurance this year (because Obama Care is designed to screw up people's policies ... see the video I linked in L&P earlier today). But we didn't want to have anything to do with the exchange (if you go through the exchange I'd HIGHLY recommend you get LifeLock or some other identity theft protection) but we we found a Health Sharing organization called Christian Healthcare Ministries It's not exactly insurance (and it doesn't cover routine maintenance stuff) but it counts as insurance under Obamacare (so no fine) and it will pay your medical bills and isn't that expensive (we've got the fully loaded gold plan and its only $320/mo). Only thing that keeps everyone from qualifying is that you have to be a regular church attending Christian that doesn't smoke, do drugs or abuse alcohol.

So what your saying is I would be better off if I just underperformed enough to get me some of dat unemployment with the phone and stuff? Hahaha I hate my job and I finally found one that pays somewhat comparable, I am willing to lose some vacation time because they treat their employees better and it's Monday-Thursday so for the first time in 9 years I would have weekends off with my kids. But the insurance is almost triple what I'm paying now. I may have to see what the fines are and say fuck it.

Obamacare killed my existing policy that raped me for 500/ month with a 2500 deductible. Now with the exchange and all the wonderful promised advantages of Obamacare I pay $700 a month with a $6500 deductible........... Got to love the dems and their POS crap they rammed down our throats!

It says you are exempt if the employers coverage is more then 9.5% of the employee only income, does that mean I would be exempt from the mandate part? The insurance would cost me about 22%.

...but....but....the legislation that we had to pass before we could find out was in it had "Affordable Care" right in the name.

Government doesn't do anything well but waste the money taken from the working citizenry.

You don't HAVE to sign up for "Obamacare." Getting your own insurance has ALWAYS been an option.
