I'm not really sure if it was about generations or location, but growing up in southern California in the 90s, all of our neighbors up and down the street were really close. We'd have block party barbeques in the summer, etc.

In Colorado, not so much. We might be good friends with a couple houses down in each direction, but that's it. No unified street or anything like that.

Also, I'm sick of that song being used for synced lights.

My first house/neighborhood was like that. We had some wives that were into the whole block party thing and we had some fantastic block parties. I still think about them from time to time. You have to have someone willing to invest the time and energy into organizing, spearheading the whole shabang. They even got the city to close off the street once or twice. And yes, I know I need to do lights, I have the past 5 years maybe, but I've never been into it. Sorry Clinger, at best I run a string along the eves and call it good.

That's insane. That costs a crazy amount of money... I wonder how they got everyone to participate? I bet it was one guy who was really into it who offered to put up lights for everyone else.

Looks like SoCal, so it probably is someone with a history of lighting, who basically just asked if his neighbors were interested. If they said yes, he probably gave them instructions on how to set it up, unless he did it himself.

At least we have lights up. I think there are 3 houses within a block that have them.

Meh. Its cool they're all synced up and I can appreciate the work that would take but it makes me want to have a seizure because it's so cluttered/chaotic. 10 pts for technical, 0 for style.

I'm not really all that festive this year. And I think all of my Neighbors are Liberals. As a matter of fact, I assume everyone I meet is a liberal until they prove to me otherwise.
