All that does is divide the non-Democrat vote. Just keep working to take over the Republican Party. It's slower than separating but more effective.

Sadly I agree, I'd love to see the Tea Party be a separate entity but there are too many people who don't/won't pay attention and will vote (R) no matter what.

These are the results from the last Presidential election. Very disappointing for anyone not voting for (D) or (R), collectively they didn't even get 2% of the vote.
