Default Urgent: Stage Monitor to A&Heath QU-16 sound board

So first the rant: I've been asking for over a @#$%&#@ MONTH to get someone out here to tell me how to do one simple (I thought) friggin' thing. Show me how to plug in and control stage monitors with the new board we have. #@$%^ School beaucracy: Yes, we put in a "request". No, no update on the "request". What request? @#$%^$%&!!! So now, I have a concert tomorrow at 1 p.m. and we need the friggin' state monitors and they are not working. I've @#$%^ read the manual in all 7 languages (though I only understood English). I've used Google-fu and any alteration of "plug monitors into QU-16" takes me back to the same crappy pages that don't help. I've even asked some local self professed "experts".... nothing. So I come to you....

I have a Allen and Heath sound board. I have two stage monitors. I need to hook up the stage monitors to the board and be able to adjust the sound WITHOUT changing the house sound.... things are not plug and play anymore.... The stage monitors use 1 inch jacks. The only "outputs" I see on the board are XLR.

    Help anyone?

Sorry and thanks.... I think I was better off with my old crappy equipment ...

Go easy on me, I am a techno-tard.

Hmmm... well in talking to some people it looks like I can't do that at all without an external amp (non self powered monitors). So this won't happen for the concert tomorrow! HA!

    Thanks.

Are they powered monitors? The manual says that the ALT output on the QU-16 can be used for monitors.

Edit.. looks like you answered the question while I was reading the QU-16 manual.. If the monitors are not powered then yes you need an amp in between.

    Bear,
I'm working tonight- otherwise I'd see if I can get either a set of powered speakers or an amp to borrow... (XLR in, 1/4in out? I see you say "1 inch jacks".. are they the twist lock type (aka Speakon) a pic would let me know)

but I don't have anything here at my place, it belongs to the sound team at our church- I can put something on facebook asking if anyone has stuff to borrow

ETA: I'm not familar with the board ( I use Beringer or Presonus)... but very familar with cable types and what can be connected to what...

Just took a quick look at it. It's digital, so that complicates things but also makes them easy in some ways. You'll need to configure one or more of the analogue mix outputs digitally to be your monitor mixes, and send that output to your new powered monitors or amp/speaker set up.

Well none of that makes any difference if you can't hook up the monitors physically... but yeah, that would be another hurdle if you don't have a board operator familiar with the board (or at least the type of board.. I agree digital boards are different than analog boards)

No, the cables I have are 1/4in. I have a bad habit of saying "one inch jacks"... sorry. It's all good though, they will just go on without monitors. Not a big deal for this group.

Was that English? HAHA. I understand, but don't "understand" if that makes sense. In any case, right now it's a moot point as I do not have powered monitors or an amp to run the non-powered ones. Thanks for helping with the research. I do appreciate it!

Yeah... that was one (of a few things) cut out by the building committee to save money.

Thanks folks. This thread is dead, until I get an amp or powered stage monitors, thanks!

Well, it was interesting. From the front of the house is sounded fine... but on stage was hilarious, people looking around, unsure if they were correct, unsure of when to come in (although I give them cues, but who ever looks at the conductor). It may just be more fun and confidence building without 'em! HAAHHA! Thanks for the help.
