Yes, we learned all about this concept in high school. Back then, it was considered homogeneity, and it applied to EVERYONE, not just whites. People have a tendency to prefer others from the same cultural, social, biological, and other similar backgrounds.

I've always been a casual student of sociology and psychology. When I first went to college, I was a psych major and got to actually learn a few legit things in the sociology/psych realm. It caused my to pay closer attention to people.

THIS ^^ just so happens to be one of the pet concepts I've watch in people and I can't stress enough how significantly this is true. Over the last 30+ years in multiple civilian, collegiate and military environments, I've watched this phenomenon. Still amazed by it.

Yet when one doesn't gravitate toward "their" group, they are outcasted from "their" group.

This is absolutely true. Even little, innocent preschoolers hang out with kids similar to themselves out on the playground. The boys hang with the boys, girls with girls, Hispanics with Hispanics, etc. I've witnessed 3 year old kids form cliques based on these traits.

So if I show up to a protest wearing a shirt that says SWAP - Shot While Attacking Police, I'm a racist?
