Stolen Valor? Anybody current or former army ranger?

I was in the army before, but tonight I ran into a friend of a friend who was wearing ACUs Sporting a Ranger tab, everything he said does not add up to him ever going to Ranger school, he said he did Ranger school at Fort Leonard Wood. And he is part of the 75th Ranger Battalion, he is grossly out of shape for army regs and does not fit the part in my billing. Just wondering if there is any way to really tell if he is being honest, or if he is full of shit and should remove that tab? He was even wearing his marksman badge on his ACUs

i will ask him, I know a lot of people don't see it as a big deal, but you learn everything in the military and for somebody just to slap it on it's kind of insulting

I wasn't Ranger but I do know all of them do their school at Ft Benning and are only stationed at Benning, Hunter Army Airfield and Ft Lewis. Or were last I was in. I was a Black hawk crew chief so I was deployed with and flew some of them out to their missions in Afghanistan. I could only ever dream of being able to go to Ranger School.

Maybe it was a ranger MTT? I know before I got out they opened ranger school to many more people than whoever it was open to before. Going to ranger school is one thing, being in the ranger Batt is another.

That's what I was thinking to, I went to Benning for basic so knew they were the training grounds of the Rangers.
