Has anybody moved here from WA state?

I put in for a transfer at my work for a job in Washington state and I also have a job interview at another place. Can any of you tell me about the Everett and also the Silverdale area? From what I hear they are two very different places. Of the two, which one is a more desirable place to live?

The wife and I visit Everett almost yearly. It's a decent city, though I didn't research it's crime rates. People
in general are nice and the landscape is beautiful. Not many gun stores or shooting ranges that I could find through a Google search. Traffic blows 5x worse than Denver IMO. Not sure if any of this helps it's just my experience. Feel better traveling around in WA now that I have my CCW for Washington state.

I don't know about the cities you mentioned but i have spent some time in Washington; the west is green and moist, the east is more desert. I spent most of my time around the southern Seattle area. It wasn't bad, just more rain than I am used to.

I lived in Washington for seven years (undergrad and I worked at the capitol) in the 90s. I never made it up to the Silverdale Area, just the naval yards in Bremerten. It was definitely a beautiful area. Is your job in the Seattle area? If so, you have the fairy commute from Bremerten. I wouldn't live out there unless you know what you are getting into. Everett is a Naval port town along with industrial namely Boeing; I didn't spend any time up ther. Personally, I liked the southern end of the sound a lot more than the north. If you go up there, I would definitely rent and spend some time getting to know the area. I am not familiar with the traffic patterns any more, but the King County Seattle Metro was horrific when I lived there.

From what I remember, the areas surrounding Bremerten were really nice; I wouldn't mind living out there. If you lived near Everett without the commute, I wouldn't mind that either. The state (mainly King County) is pretty far left. There is a pretty strong firearms culture there; I can give you some contacts.

That would be awesome. We are definitely moving there once I find a job. I spent some time in Oregon, so I've accustomed to some of their crazy ways.

Be aware they just passed some crazy ass piece of garbage UBGC laws there that appear to be even more restrictive than ours. Like letting someone shoot your guns at a range is a felony.

FWIW, I flew to into SEATAC with a few carry guns over Thanksgiving (Utah CFP) and par for the course, the UA agent on the return was clueless and asked if I had TSA approved locks for my Pelican case. I responded, "If by TSA approved you mean a padlock that only I can open, then yes. However, I'm sure that's not what you meant and here's how it works..." I had to explain the process to him. Derp.

The only good thing was that inbound, some astute baggage handler made sure the case got pulled for ID check. I would prefer they all do that instead of dumping them on the carousel.

Aero Precision and SAA are right in Tacoma, a few blocks form each other. My son does lots of shopping there.

Doh, I lived in WA for about 7 years (like MED, for my (failed) undergrad then working for a few years), but that was in the Redmond/Bellevue area. Plus, I didn't get out too much, so I'm not really much help. I know one of the summers during my undergrad I was working for about a month and a half up in the Everett area. I only saw the bit where I was working, but it seemed reasonable I guess (at least, reasonable city-wise, no comment on political leanings or otherwise). Don't know anything Silverdale.

As for Washington in general, it's fairly wet, so if you're outdoorsy that could be a downer, but if you stay inside a lot like I did, it's not a huge issue. It does keep everything green and beautiful though, so that's pretty nice. In the Seattle area (again, not sure if Everett's quite the same but since it's relatively nearby I imagine so), it doesn't snow much so they don't really have much in the way to prepare when it DOES snow. If it snows, chances are the city shuts down (by CO standards it wouldn't be bad, but it does get icy, particularly since they don't plow nor put down salt). The Seattle area bus system is pretty nice and goes just about everywhere with reasonable frequency, but I don't think Everett's part of it, so don't know if it qualifies.
