I'm curious how bad the windows are that people are getting tickets for. Can you post a pic?
We've been driving with a cracked window for 6 months but it in no way interferes with vision. We haven't replaced it on principal, we got a chip that turned into a crack the first week we had the car and the chip was on the very side where it wasn't visible from inside so we didn't even have a chance to get it repaired before it grew by about a foot in one day.
On a side note, getting a ticket for no front license plate really annoyed me (had just gotten the plates and had the front plate in the passenger seat) but I got the ticket anyway. That was State Patrol outside of Ft Collins. While he was writing the ticket I counted over 50 passing vehicles with no front plate so he must have had a busy day if that's what he was looking for.I did just pay the ticket, I'm pretty sure it was less than $50.

I don't actually think crossing a solid white line (with care) is illegal.
He was just looking for something bigger.
Warrents, suspended license, a little beer on your breath or weed smell in your car.
IF it's in the windshield wiper area it is considered impairing your vision. HOWEVER the bottom line is CASH for the State, City, County. It's a 2 point ticket IF they write it as Driving with a XXX Or it's a basic pay $$ by this time and you will not be awarded any points. Ironic they will NOT AWARD YOU any points. How nice of them. IF you decide to contest the ticket then the $$ starts adding up.
I fought a parking ticket. Clearly showing i had to park with my rear tire on the white line(picture courtesy of the local meter maid) because the truck to my left was over the line / infringing in a second space. The "referee" when i asked him if that vehicle received a ticket like i did. replied, This is about your vehicle no one else!. That trip to contest ticket added another $75 to my cost of living expenses.

This is why I have free windshield replacement on my insurance. I get a crack, I call it in.
Probably because of the Colorado "catch all" Colorado Revised Statutes 42-4-603.
However the Federal Highway Administration Uniform traffic Control Devices, says it is discouraged to cross a single white line but illegal to cross a double white line (like at an on or off ramp)
