With all the rain this past 10-12 days it didnt take long for tonights unexpected downpour to turn the range into a swamp.

    Cancel.

Next month will again be Semi-auto Sunday where antique turn bolt guns are tolerated and modern self loading rifles reign supreme.

Lots of fun today. Most everyone showed up with a (SA) gas gun.

One of the shooting positions is shooting off a bench. However, you do not get to use a bipod, a chair or anything like that. Just you, your rifle and a single bag. Large or small bag, no matter. It is actually kind of awkward. And when shooting at targets out to 600 yards that might be 10-12 inch diameter steel targets it isnt easy.

Most people shot small frame ARs like 223 guns although a few guys brought their 6.5 Creedmore and 308s out to play. In the end, the 6 ARC and 6 Grendel came out on top. And lot of people used a can which makes everyone happy.

With the semi auto match being a huge hit, one shooter had an idea for another once a year match.

Suppressor only and subsonic only match. Still playing with details, but guessing it will only go out to 300 yards.

5 targets, big to small. Guessing a full size IPSC down to a 6-8 inch diamond. Maybe a bonus target off to the side for anyone that shoots a string clean.

Right now I am looking at December of January sometime.

Let me know your thoughts and or ideas.

I have had several shooters over the years ask for a Suppressor Only match, kind of like the Quiet Riot in Utah.

It took some head scratching on how to do this and make it different enough to be a thing.

After our hugely successful semi auto only match in June, we came up with a plan.

    Suppressor and Subsonic ammo match.

You have to use a can and shoot subs.

Nothing but steel targets at 300 yards. Various shapes and sizes. 5 stages and 50 rounds total.

Being subs only, the targets will be pretty large by normal bolt gun standards.

I will have loaner gear avail. Pretty much Thunderbeast suppressors and Accuracy International rifles. But you have to pay for my reloading components.

We will be doing this in January to give you some time to work up an accurate and quiet load.

Sounds like fun. I'll try to make my .260 subsonic.

Fun times today. Nice steady winds most all day until the last stage, and then it caught most everyone off guard.

Only a few more weeks left on the Wednesday afternoon steel matches.

Next weekend is busy with rimfire on Saturday and Tactical Rifle on Sunday. Hope to see you then.

Next Sunday is the annual AK vs AR match.

The January 600 yard match will be held on the 300 yard range and will be a suppressor and silencer only match. I will have loner guns avail.
