    Default Stamp refunds.

So I bought into the DD group buy and J had received my stamps. But as you know, the suppressor group buy didn't go as planned and J refunded my payment.

So will the NFA refund the stamp tax for items not manufactured and delivered? If so, how does one go about getting a refund. Does the dealer inform the NFA or is it my job to do that.

    Or am I out $400?

    Thank You.

Not looking for any discussion on the DD group buy.

Wow, I didn't think you could send in the form until your dealer had the suppressor in hand. How did he verify the serial number to put on the form if he didn't have it in hand?

You can cancel a Form 4 and get a refund as long as the transfer hasn't been approved. I understand it takes the ATF a while to issue a refund. If the form 4's are already approved... You are the proud owner of expensive stamps. Sell 'em on eBay to a collector.

Call the NFA branch and ask them how to cancel them

Filling out a form 4 without having said item available is not recommended. :-)

Since they would be manufactured to order, and the company has its serial number range, it would be easy to assign a serial number to a customer before the item exists - they would just engrave that number on the product for that customer. I do know of dealers that send serial numbers to a receiving dealer before the ATF has approved the transfer between dealers, and had the option to send the paperwork before my dealer had the item in hand.

In both cases tho, if something gets mixed up to the company goes TU you are looking at a big headache.

The mfg / DD has to notify NFA the items were never delivered. Upon receipt of said letter, it takes ATF 4 -12 weeks to reimburse you.
Jay should have submitted that letter already. IF he didn't get on his case till he does.

Wow, learn something new everyday. Every transfer I've done the dealer wouldn't even think of doing the paperwork until they had the item in their hand.

That's because the FFL rarely if ever has advance notice what serial numbers they will be receiving, only qty of item.
With the seller being the mfg they can issue serial numbers w/out a finished product. Car dealers sell / finance a vehicle, expected to take delivery on X date but not in stock since they've been given the vin # from the mfg.
