    Default CCW on school grounds

I have read some of the posts here regarding CCW on school grounds. However, does that mean you can't bring a firearm to school grounds in your car? Reason I ask is I'm thinking of teaching at one of the schools in Colorado and although I want to respect the no carry law of the school I shouldn't have to leave my firearm at home especially if I want to go out later that night. So carrying in your car and parking your car on school property is that against the law as well?

    Regards,
    Dave

If it's a public school, K-12, any handgun you bring on to school property must remain in a compartment within your car (ie: glove box, console) and the car must be locked if you get out of your car.

However, I'd be willing to bet most CO public school districts have a policy which employees must follow that forbids them from bringing handguns to work. I could be wrong on that becauese I'm not a school district employee. But, if they do have such a policy, while not a violation of law, it would be a violation of conditions of employment.

Well I'm looking at part-time teaching positions at a state college or University. Something like Metro, UoP, Regis. A place of that nature. Not a K-12. Sorry I didn't make that clear. Thanks.

not illegal to have it locked in your vehicle no matter what the place as it is your private property.

CCW is a no go on campus.

there are groups and organizations working to turn that around. very touchy subject. I personally hope CCW IS allowed.

Each school will have different conditions of employment, you can choose what you want to do with that when you get hired.

It's called Concealed for a reason. Don't talk about it, don't show off and be smart. As stated above, the Colorado university system can and does have it's own rules. They vary from institution to institution so read up on that and be smart.
