The dumbest? Not as long as Sean Penn is still around.

I'm disappointed in his viewpoint, to be sure. I am not surprised. He moved to New York, partly in response to the outpouring of support after the death of his wife. He's bought into he whole "guns are baaaad," while overlooking the fact that France has incredibly strict gun laws. I also think his fear of guns makes things seem even worse in his eyes.

As an aside-

Personally, I think it's pretty immature and repugnant to make such comments about an accidental death. What the hell. Like anyone chooses to die by slipping on a bar of soap, or bonking their head on the overhead compartment of an aircraft, or a knock on the head at a beginner's ski lesson? Bad form! If you're angry about is views, rant on him. Don't make sh!tty comments about his dead wife.

It is a real tragedy that so many of our citizens can be so influenced by a mere actor. I guess as an actor, they can be good at their profession and still be a first class ass with their personal opinions when they attempt to sway opinions of the common class (us). That bastard!

Unfortunately, I can't find the clip on YouTube but I've often felt the most ironic scene in any movie was in "Gettysburg" when Martin Sheen (as Robert E. Lee) exclaimed (with no small amount of surprise or derision), "an actor? We move on the word of an actor?!?"
