    Default semi-auto 20 gauge recommendations

I want to buy a semi-auto 20 gauge for a youth female to do 3-gun with and possibly hunt. It has to be able to get a tube extension for it and have different chokes. Ive seen a few that would work but I'm having trouble finding ANY tube extensions for 20 gauge shot guns. Any input is greatly appreciated.

If the choice of a 20 gauge is for reduced recoil you might want to rethink. A 12 gauge semi auto shooting 7/8 oz loads will recoil less than just about any 20 gauge. Once you settle on a 12 gauge your choices are almost unlimited. A Berretta 391 would be a very good choice with more after-market options than you can imagine. Many others would work well also.

A lot of semi autos are finicky with low recoil ammo. I own two semi auto 12 gauge guns already. They are both too heavy for her. I need a light gun also.

What about that AK variant semi-auto? The name escapes me currently.

I like the tristar youth model 20 gauge. It's crazy light but I have no idea about a tube extension. The Franchi is also very light but expensive. Do any of the regular makers have anything like this? Does anyone make tube extensions for 20 gauge shotguns?

My vote would be for a Saiga 20

Saiga was the one I was thinking of.
I know it's for 3-gun, but is the mag extension make or break if it means not competing at all? I guess that is assuming this is for a youth who may be able to grow into a 12 gauge.

I just want to get her into it while she is interested. Growing into a 12 is a distinct possibility in the next few years.

Buy a 12ga , install one of those recoil management systems in the butt stock. I'd buy / cry once and go with a Benelli or Versamax. Good aftermarket support for both , with lots of options. I have a basic 20ga for the spouse. Without a lot of tinkering there's minimal aftermarket support, especially when it comes to "tactical / defensive" . There's also a wider range of ammo, selection wise for the 12 over the 20.
