Default PSA: File your taxes ASAP!

Last thing anyone wants is to have some joker use your personal info to file for a fraudulent refund. So if you think you have a refund coming, file your taxes as soon as you get your required documents (W-2; 1099; etc). Condolences for those who have to wait for K-1s.

The gov really needs to do away with those dumb debit cards.

ETA: lol you win autocorrect.... PSA to PDA. Sigh.

    Good idea.

There are ways to beat auto correct.

Crappy..... I guess it doesn't affect me since my employer doesn't distribute W2's until the last day of the month anyway.

And many people probably won't get their W-2s until the end of the month (I think the due date this year is Feb 2nd, since Jan 31st falls on a Saturday). Everybody's a bit different for when they can get their pertinent tax docs together to file their taxes.. some wait for 1099s or 1098s, but it just helps to get all the ducks in a row to be ready to file.

I stand corrected if due date is Feb 2nd, as my employer won't distribute any earlier than the last day.

Can anyone shed some light on the TurboTax vs accountant debate? The wife and I have always done TurboTax but is it worth going to an accountant?

From my very limited experience, unless you have a complicated situation, or lots of stuff to itemize, you are better off using turbo tax or similar programs.

Switched to H&R one year... Big mistake. It missed a lot of money I could have gotten back.
