    Default First 3-gun match today

What a blast. I can't wait till the next one. I shot out at Pawnee Sportsmens Center. It was a pretty laid back event with a lot of great people willing to help out.

A lot of the rifle was well over 200 and my Eotech wasn't where it needed to be. Luckily I found it within two shots and did way better than I expected. Especially for my first time.

If you are on the fence about an event like this cuz you don't want to suck. Get past that and go! I promise you will not regret it.

Nice man! I'll never forget my first shooting match. Tim K said the hardest part was to grow a set and go! He was right. After the first one, you can't wait for the second one!

Big John! It was great to have you! Nice try to attempt to set up both pistol colors on that last stage, just before I shot! (Not needed, I stunk it up anyway). Turns out, hurrying is okay if you do it accurately.

I told you when you got there, it's no big deal, and you'll shoot better than most! Except for me, shooting better than me would just be wrong.

Jeff, you were a fine example of the helpful folks at these shoots and I thank you for that. By the end of the day I had a borrowed mag and a borrowed 12 shot shotty (courtesy of the great guys at USA Liberty Arms). Great people for sure.

I had been up since 4 getting my act together after working a 6 day week, so I was pretty damned tired by the end.

If you can fit it into your schedule you should come out and shoot some IDPA. Always a great time for sure. Best part is at the end of the day you only have one gun to clean.

It's on my to do list. Time is a real bitch for me as I work 6 days a week and only have Sunday's off. I'm not skeered to do it anymore though.

How realistic is shooting a match with open sights on an AR? What do you guys have your guns zero'd to?

Very realistic, in fact there's a division called 'limited' which allows iron sights or a non-magnified optic on the rifle. Mine is zeroed @ 100yds but that's with a scope.

Realistic meaning your chances of winning? There was a couple guys that were strapped with lot's of goodies that didn't do as well as they looked. In my group, there were a few guys that seemed concerned about winning, everyone else, while taking it very seriously while shooting, were just having a good time. Some of which were outstanding shooters.

There was a dude in my group running irons that was unbelievable. He did every bit as well as guys running scopes.

I did better than I ever would have imagined running an Eotech that I had to aim at around 4 o'clock. Further out, I had to adapt.

I guess in the end, I went to compete against myself while learning (good and bad) from others techniques.
