    So I had my post op visit today and I had expectations that were out of wack.

    Upside they didn't have to take the knuckle off which left more bone which means the end result will be more length.

    The downside is they didn't wrap the skin over the "nub" but rather left it exposed to naturally heal over. They also left it at a pretty big angle, which was a shock.

    There is a little dead skin on the middle finger they are concerned about, time will tell if it heals from under or if they will have to cut it out.

    They had me on Dilaudid after my bike wreck a couple of years back. That and the fentanyl were pretty effective. I stayed on the dilaudid for about 2 days after I got released from the hospital, still have a bunch. I figured I wasn't in much pain, and found that I could manage it with OTC naproxen. Aside from the head-stuffed-with-rags feeling that I got from the opiates, I hated the constipation issues, as they clogged me up like eating 5 pounds of cheese...
