They didn't do that with me. Three months before my 2-year contract expired, I called to set an appointment with a tech because of issues we were having with On Demand and our internet connection, and I mentioned Centurylink was in our neighborhood offering some really good deals. The woman simply said, "Well, how about I take $40ff your bill, right now?" There was no mention of a 2 year contract, no mention of the word "contract" whatsoever.
