Default Thinking about an AUG have a magazine related question or two

If I chose the standard variant are the magazines still hard to find (Nationally not CO), and are they date coded similar to Magpul. (Would your typical gun show have them available in enough supply to look for "older" ones?

If I chose the NATO Variant (presuming they are available) is the only manual of arms difference between them a lack of a bolt hold open on the NATO stock?

If I bought the standard variant are replacement NATO stocks easy to come by and a simple swap?

I have enough AR-15 pattern magazines to last a lifetime so it would seem simple to choose the NATO variant but my curiosity cor the original is still there.

Ok...I have owned 4 AUGs and currently have 2. The simple answer would be to go with the NATO stock. You have the mags for it already and the gun can even use higher capacity ones like the 50 round drums and the 60 and 100 quad stack mags. Yes the standard AUG mags are stll available at gun shows but tend to pull a higher price than a typical magpul mag.

The NATO stocks are available out there from either PJs AUGs or on the firearm sale sites like gunbroker. PJ also sells AUGs with the NATO stock already installed but they arn't difficult to do yourself.

The NATO stock work with the current A3 M1 variants being produced?

The prices for the standard AUG mags are pretty affordable right now. They were stupid cheap just before our ban went into place. I scooped up about 20 of them.

I've never shot one with the NATO stock, I think I remember reading something about the trigger being different/weaker. But this may just be the booze.

I really like my AUG, and wouldn't ditch it for any dollar amount. But, if I was starting at zero, I'd look at the TAVOR. Seems to be the Internet darling right now, so there's tons of new support for it. Mainly trigger options, as bullpup triggers suck. Luckily I managed to nab a 2020 trigger for mine before the price went nuts.

For AUG support though, PJ's will have everything you need.

Held both today and had a chance to pick each up compare its weight and balance vs the other. (Repeatedly alternated between them) I found the weight and balance of the AUG to be preferable. That was unloaded of course to the full weight balance was not present. I like both and given the opportunity to own both I would but choosing only one I would have to go AUG first.

Aug vs Tavor....I would say that I prefer the feel of the aug...but the bolt hold open...the mag release of the Tavor makes it more preferable. I have one in 9mm and one in .223.

If you would like to meet to try both out we could arrange a date.

Putting 9mm conversion kits into the equation and not taking into consideration Colorado laws the Tavor is the clear winner considering the price of 6th generation Aug 9mm kits on PJ's website. I have a number of Colt 9mm magazines what style does the Aug take (their own proprietary?)

Cant tell if you said your 9mm was the AUG or Tavor.

I have a CQC AUG with the NATO stock equipped and I love the shit out of it. The way mine is set up, the optic is the same height over bore as it would be on an AR, so the BDC reticle is still valid.

Here's a guy selling a NATO stock for a good price, well not sure if it's a relist or not, but they aren't hard to find either way: https://bullpupforum.com/index.php?topic=7413.0

    Aw yeah.

If you go the AUG route, do yourself a favor and get the 2020 Precision sear from Ratworx. Easy install and great improvement on the trigger.
