FWIW we're the only one doing it free to my knowledge. We were doing free transfers (FFL to FFL) with neons and the works before the law went into effect so we got fucked. It used to be, people felt mildly guilty about getting a service and not paying a dime for it, so 65% would tip. So on average, we got $10 a transfer and it was justified.

Now, we get bum-raped by dozens and dozens person to person transfers (which wasn't ever what we intended), CBI collects their $10 fee, of which, $1.50 cover expenses, and the person thinks we get paid. Less than 5% tip now. Many think they are doing US a favor. Many want a reach around "Can you give us a bill of sale?".

Some even bitch us out. I had one customer yell at me because I told him to come in later in the afternoon when he called and I wouldn't "squeeze him in" free work in for him when I had to go pick up shipments. And no, I wasn't rude.
"Can't you just squeeze me in?" "No, sir, we have limited staffing and I need to get our COD deliveries" "WELL YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS FUCKER". "Sir, that's why we offer a free service." "*GETS EVEN MORE IRATE*

While I was going out of my way for positive customer service as if I ever got paid. What am I, the fucking free DMV?

So, there is no bur. I may do it free, and honestly, because we got the short end of the stick. A business should be able to charge whatever the ever loving hell they want to in a free market economy. The State getting the belief they can regulate jack shit in terms of pricing is a very real problem. If dealers stuck to that mantra less than 10% of dealers would do any transfers at all. (Most were charging beyond $10 before, who is the State to tell them what to charge).
I'm sorry are you talking to me or ranting about the stupid f'ing BGC law.

Sounds like you hate these laws as much as me. I'm only pissed that everybody including the FFL's should have to follow these shitty laws. The law says "shall not exceed $10" then that's what it is, I didn't write it and I don't agree with it. Everybody here gets there nose bent when someone suggests a mag parts kit, that is not specifically excluded in the mag ban law. But nobody mentions the fact that the BGC law says quote: (d) A LICENSED GUN DEALER MAY CHARGE A FEE FOR SERVICES RENDERED PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION, WHICH FEE SHALL NOT EXCEED TEN DOLLARS. Pretty straight forward. I'm not saying there is any way that covers your cost, I'm saying is the law nobody enforces. I don't expect every FFL to be willing to do private transfers but if they do shouldn't they have to follow the law like the rest of us. The bur comes from FFL's that flaunt the law buy publishing what they charge for transfers and it is more that the law allows. It sucks that the state gets there $10 for a simple background check that takes 3 minutes and you have to do all the paperwork and maintain it for the rest of your life, but that's the law. If FFL's can't do it for $10 and all of them refuse then maybe the law would have to get changed. Would that be such a bad thing if nobody in Colorado could privately sell there gun legally and the courts had to step in and interpret 2A. Maybe the entire law gets thrown out because of hardship or whatever. Maybe if the people understand the injustice that is perpetrated on the FFL's something could change. I have nothing personal against FFl's, I was one once.
