I remember that as well. He even worked his son into the story. His statements at the time didn't ring true. You have to respect the pattern.

he thought he could lie and act like he had valor and steal some fame for himself. he pretended he was shot down and that took away from people who actually were shot down.

and its not something you misremember. I flew on many helo's, and I am certain I would remember if I was shot down. even just a little.

next thing you know a video will surface of him at a bar wearing a uniform telling people he was shot down and now a disabled war hero.

nothing like lying politicians and news people.

What makes this especially egregious is that he has been telling this story for more than a decade on a nationally broadcast program.
