"According to this article http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_27...pacity-gun-ban "There have been nine citations and no convictions since the law went into effect, she said." Anyone know anything about these citations and if they were thrown out, or still pending, what the circumstances were, etc.?"

Senator Cooke (former sheriff) has the list. They're tack-on charges to crimes committed while in possession of a magazine that holds more than 15 rounds. Apparently, one of the nine is an error by law enforcement or a district attorney entering an incorrect statute code. Thus, the total is apparently eight, not nine. The charge under CRS § 18-12-3 (mag ban) can be a misdemenaor or, if related to a crime of violence committed while in possession of a magazine that holds more than 15 rounds, a felony. Contact Senator Cooke if you'd like more information… or wait for the hearing in Senate Judiciary Committee.

Are pre July'13 mags still encumbered with this tack-on nonsense?

Good point! They certainly shouldn't be if in fact they're date coded as manufactured before 7.2013.

I don't know about everyone else, but I have lot of "evil"mags that are not date coded, or indentifiable as to date of manufacture at all, so how can this stupid law be enforced??

The burden is on the State. No one should be charged without probable cause (i.e. magazine dated 7/1/13 or later)

Its busy work meant to burn out or keep busy the types of people that like these things. Keeps you from complaining about real problems.
The only thing it doesn't do (even though it was rapped in the polished up shiny wrapping paper of safety) is make anyone safer.

    NEW HEARING DATE

Senate Bill 15-175 to repeal the "mag ban," will be heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Committee Room 271. The new committee room is located between the elevators on the second floor of the Capitol Building. The plan as of today is to have only that one bill on the calendar. We hope to have as little waiting as possible for those who wish to testify in favor of the bill. Proponents (those who support repeal) will testify first.

If you wish to contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, then please consider saying "Thank you" to Senators Roberts, Lundberg, and Cooke who are all co-sponsors of the bill. They already support the bill, there is no need to urge, strongly urge or plead with them to support the bill because THEY ALREADY DO. However, I can testify how rare and appreciated a "thank you for supporting the bill" email can be to a legislator.

Senate Judiciary Committee roster with "clickable" email links:

Please also note that Senator Cooke is my co-prime sponsor. The two of us will present the bill to the committee.

Thank you for your time and effort to repeal the ineffective and insulting "mag ban."

Is there a reason for this sarcastic comment?
