Default Can not get STG-58CP Para Fal upper and lower to lock closed.

With the bolt carrier and top cover removed it closes shut, when the bolt carrier and top cover are installed it will not lock together when I fold together the upper and the lower. What to look for as it has me absolutely stumped at the moment.

It's the locking lever to upper receiver fit. Plus the pressure of the bolt carrier.

Here is how the nose of the cover fits. I think I'm going to go pull it all completely apart and start over. I suspect that it has to be something simple that I missed like one on the sides of the cover missing the channel it is supposed to slide in.

Moved with a redirect. Two things. First is it looks like you have an original style para top cover. There is what we call a "para cut" supposed to be on the upper receiver for this style. They make them both ways. With and without. After that do understand that the latch looks normal in the pic without the top cover. Just close the two haves together. Do not try and force the latch forward because it is made that way to be a wear item. As the latch and receiver wear the latch will move forward in a normal battle rifle use type situation.

Hope this helps. A pic of the upper where the cover fits in would be helpful.

I am aware of the fact that the lever will not be full forward when closed. I just cant get it to lock when I "shotgun" it shut. The top cover is original to the rifle when sold. Seriously It just has to be something obvious I'm doing or I have bent the cover in some manner.

P.S. Who put the gun together? Para with a bipod and SED lower with a DSA type 2 upper.16" barrel. STG or G-1 kit to start it looks like.

Has the cut so something is amiss.

Top cover has to be flush with the upper. (in the rear) If it is not going forward to seat then ya need to find out why.

It is a DSA, and another question while I got you is it only the inch pattern FAL that had the folding cocking lever. Are there aftermarket folding cocking levers for these or are modifications necessary that make it not worth the effort.
