    Default Canik TP9SA

Anyone seen these in stores locally/tried them? Don't really need one, but perhaps at some point I'll decide I dont like carrying the bigger Glock34 and I'll never get around to playing @ IDPA or anything. +GunADD

The MK1919 shotgun had some problems as well as the caracal, but seems like some of these other guns coming out of Turkey now are actually getting good reviews etc. Great pricepoint for the peons.

Going to be hard to find around here with 2 - 18 round mags. Likely hard to find 10 to 15 rounders either.

While a bet they are a good piece, and canik has a good rep with their CZ clones bigE3's point is valid.

Personally i'd opt for a police trade in M&P. Its going to cost about the same ($350ish, in your hands), the S&W has tons of aftermarket support, S&W backs them up with a lifetime warranty. Along with taking different back straps, most often coming with 3 mags and night sights.

Good looking pistol and it comes well equipped. Priced right, too.

While the trigger on the TP9SA is supposed to be wonderful I really wouldn't recommend carrying it (if you want to carry one get the regular TP9)

The idea of carrying an SAO gun that has a giant decocker button on the top of the slide would give me some pause ... if you happen to hit it on the draw (or worse quite a while before you end up needing it) you're going to have a significantly less useful piece of plastic and metal in your hand and you're going to have to re-rack to get functioning again. At least with the TP9 you only put it into DA mode.

If you've already got a G34, maybe you should look at a G19 (it'll cost a little more than the Canik, but it'll likely fit in your G34 holster and use your G34 mags as well).

Picked one up today as a gift. Was after the SF, but with a time crunch I took the SA rather than trying to find a dealer with one available to ship or mess with gunbroker.

I have to say finally handling it, I am extremely impressed, especially considering price. Holster while it is a sherpa (boo) style, seems more solid than I was lead to believe it was. Foam is solid and nice, attractive package w/ cleaning brushes and rod. (Again why I love this for first time gun buyer. Trigger is indeed pretty nice. I like the sights. Grip isn't perfect but I may just be too used to shooting nothing but Glock pretty much. And I'm not playing with backstraps on a gift.]

As far as the decocker. I played with it, and you really got to press pretty directly and with intent to get it to go off, much harder than decocker like on a beretta. Most holsters I'd use also would cover the area I think. Personally I'm not worried about it. Giftee isn't going to be carrying it though. If I get one for myself, I'll get the SF though, but not because I fear the decocker.

I have the V2 and love it. Like you said the decocker takes some real omph to press. It would be very hard to accidentally make it go off.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do.

V2 is the double action. I was shying away from that lest it mess with the original trigger that many people were raving about. ?

I have the TP9SF (basically a V2 SA without the decocker) I think it's a great pistol. Very happy with it.

There are always a few at the Tanner. Typically just under $400 for an SA.
