    Default Chat/messaging window.

I know this style forum software has a"beta" version of a chat window. My saltwater forum has it.

Was wondering if that's something that migh be added or certain obstacles? Be nice to be able to have running text conversations without having 1000 page threads etc. Especially for quick random questions not worth a post, or just smalltalk.

But then how would we boost our post counts?

Timing becomes an issue as by the time the person you want to read the message is on, your message is long gone. Also, it then pretty much just turns into the post whore thread live as certain people will hang out there as regulars.
Nothing wrong with any of that, as that is pretty much the point of a chat window.
Work productivity goes WAY down though, as people will find themselves browsing here, AND bringing up the chat window all day while at work.

Isn't that what FB is for?

I like the thread format in forums especially when it is a topic I want to learn about or get information from.

But on facebook you dont have every forum member and most here hate that.....

Post count whoring imo sucks. Course so do some on the chat thing.

If you are calling out to someone specifically that's for PM's. Sure someone may walk away but you arn't supposed to be putting dire important communications there.

Have you BEEN to the Post Whore Thread?

People come to the PWT all the time with car questions, gun questions, reloading questions, purchasing recommendations, etc. It is basically a chatroom for the whole board.

    I vote no.

I like that I can just post stuff up and check back on it later. I wouldn't use the chat feature if we had it.
