I don't have any experience with that particular tool but used a similar one to help a buddy of mine pull the factory barrel off his 700. We struggled a little and I didn't like the tool. It only grabs a section on the barrel about 2.5" long and only grabs the barrel in a couple of spots. Although, in our defense, we were young. I think if we had some rosin of some sort it might have gone smoother.

It might work fine for swapping out muzzle devices on the AR but there are probably better tools for that as well. I love the Geissele Reaction Rod for flash hiders and barrel nuts.
