    Default n00b 3 gun question

    In the 3 gun matches around here, do people use some kind of LBV/LBE for mags and such? Or is that not necessary?

    I want to try out 3 gun (unfortunately I can't make it to the one this weekend), but I don't want to show up and realize I'm missing a crucial piece of gear. What is the basic load-out for one of these matches?

    I don't even know what a LBV or LBE is.

    My gear is a Blade Tech holster for my pistol on a CR speed belt. CR speed pouches for my pistol mags. Brownells/Blade Tech AR-15 mag pouches for my AR mags. California Competition Works 6 rounds shotshell holders that go on my belt too. And a 3gungear bandolier for shotgun shells that I use occassionally.

    But bottom line bring a belt holster for your pistol, a few mag pouches for your pistol mags, a couple for your rifle mags, something to load up to about 18 shotgun shells from and you're good to go.

    If you don't have all that it's pretty easy to borrow gear from people at the match unless you have some sort of really weird pistol or magazines.
    Dude, where's my can?

    LBE = load bearing equipment
    LBV = load bearing vest

    Military stuff, Chris...

    I would recommend using what you have for now, and after shooting and becoming addicted to 3-gun (all shooting sports have the addiction of freebasing crack) look into upgrading your gear based on what you see others using and will work for you. Blade-Tech M-16 mag pouches seem to be one of the better/commonly used ones out there.

    My opinion, it's NEVER a bad idea to just go out and watch your first match and ask questions of the shooters, help tape, get a feel for the gear and rules, etc. You can usually find a shooter from your area more than willing to help mentor you through the gear issues, rules, and first couple of matches.

    LBE = Lazy Blue Eye
    LBV = Light Blue Velvet

    LBE = Lazy Both Eyes
    LBV = Lightly Broil Veil

    I'm going to watch the next 3 gun match.

    No one really uses vests. I use a bianchi(spelling?) belt, blade tech holster, double mag pouch, 2 AR mag pouches, for shotgun shells its depends on the shotgun. for example. my SX2 holds 8 in the tube and one on the lifter so 9 total. then 6 on the side saddle. that will get it done for the lake gorege matches most of the time, but if I need more, I load off of a bandolier.

    when you are ready to come out and play just let us know. most of us have two of everything, so if you need to borrow something just ask.
