Default Social Unrest: What is your plan?

So I didn't get far into the other thread before it disappeared.

I am thinking it got way off topic.

Keep this one on task please because to me this is a real threat, and I would like to know if anyone else prepares for this and what things you have in place to defend against something like this.

    I'll start.

Both myself and my wife have "get home bags" with extra ammo in each of our cars to help with defending ourselves on our way home.
If we are far from home (longer than an hour drive) I have more substantial defense tools that are taken with us.

We have a code word that we work into a sentenceso we know that borth of us are on our way home and to use the HAM radio at regular intervals along the way to let us know we are doing okay.

Once we get home. I plan on not allowing any ammunition/firearms getting into the looters hands. They break the threshold of my home, they are dead.
I am trying to figure out how I would cover windows easily and quickly. Like pre-cut sheets of plywood bolted to the windows somehow.

As it is I am going to actually have some 3M security film installed on windows that can be entered from the ground floor. It will slow them down long enough to line up the thugs for an easier shot.

You will not be shooting ANYBODY. What you will do is defend yourself based upon the belief you or a loved one is in Imminent Danger / In Fear for your life. WITHOUT being able to "take flight" you choose to Fight.
IF there was a threat, you should have security bars that could be added to back up the security film. I believe / deel having some form of obstacle like rose bushes or other ground shrubs deters entry through ground floor windows.
However there is or was a member who's a fireman that takes issue with such items under windows one may need to exit in case of fire. One should decide for them self what they feel is a priority.

AS for social unrest. In this town Very unlikely, not to mention just about EVERYONE in town is armed. Neither of us works, or is far from the homestead, so that's a non-issue.

    You are right Jim.

As far as obstacles around windows like my raspberry bushes and rose bushes. If I have a fire behind me, and rose bushes in front of me, I would hope that I would have the sense to wade through the bushes to safety, because fire hurts more and will kill me faster than bushes.

Where I am, I think I would be closer to ground zero than up by where you are. To me it is a real possibility that things would get bad in the town center of Aurora during demonstrations or whatever, get a little out of hand, and then spread a few miles to where I am.

This is part of the reason I live where I live. I avoid major cities as much as possible. I'd sit in my home, ready to defend myself and loved ones from anyone that tried to come hurt us. If all else failed, Id grab my camper and head to the hills til things died down.

My guess is I-70, 285, ect will all be parking lots, because everyone has that plan. "Run for the hills" While I do have a cabin in the remote Colorado mountains, I think if the shit hit the fan I'd be heading to the 1000+ acres my family owns in western Kansas. It's got 2 lakes and a river for food and water, crops everywhere, more deer than you'd know what to do with and is 15+ miles from a paved road, and even if you get to any part of the fence line you can't see anything of value, or any sign that someone may be there.

Heading east would be pretty easy, if the highways were all plugged most 4wds could handle just getting out there and pointing east through the fields.

Correct. Im 3 miles west of Franktown. I'd hit 86 out east to I70 then onto Kansas where I have some extended family. When I say hills, I just mean away from people.

Yep. Step 1 is to not live in a place with a large number of minorities (not that there's anything wrong with the vast majority of minorities but the honest truth is that the forces of social unrest originate in these communities).

In my neighborhood we're the minority. Of course the hispanics have been here sine the early 1800's, if not earlier.

This is one of the many reasons my wife and I left our well paying jobs in Denver to live out here on the frontier. No regrets as of yet. Nearest neighbor is a mile or so away and if they get rowdy, then I've got some time to figure out how to handle it.
