    Default Question on game tags

How hard is it to get a tag for the following:

    1) A deer
    2) An elk
    3) A bear
    4) A cougar/mountain lion/whatever you want to call them

Also: Anything else neat to hunt up in this state?

    4) same as above
Luck is your buddy as well as patience.

Just apply when the time comes and if you miss out on a tag for certain areas go for the leftover draw. I believe its done in early July. All tags that you listed are equally hard to get in areas that other people are seeking for them.

Example : I didn't draw a tag last year for deer in the unit I asked for. So I went for a leftover tag and got my buck, doe, and an over the counter elk. Just got to pick areas that other people haven't or don't want because it doesn't show to produce great odds. I went all out and got three tags last year for the Craig CO area. This area produces great odds and that's why I choose it. But it came at a cost of a metric shit ton of dumb ass hunters being all around me. It was like being in a pumpkin patch. Quads everywhere and well outfitted horse hunters. I learned my lesson. Go for the less know areas that "perhaps" have equally good chances of tagging out but without the crowds and there for less competition.

And to answer your other question.....Goat, ram, antelope, liberals I don't know. Whats your flavor?

Liberals are good but I dislike the tag fee of "20 to life."

Anything that required I hump it on foot, kill it, gut it and wander around a few days in the forest while doing so.

Mountain goat, moose, big horn sheep, desert big horn sheep (most of these take a minimum of 3 years to get)
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

Deer is easy to get. They are dieing to get killed half the time just driving you will see them fighting to get run over.

    It's Easy,,,
    1. get an attorney to decifer the wording,
    2. get a palm readeer to see if it is in your future to be drawn
    3. Apply in amother state for moose, sheep, goat, you Will get drawn sooner.

Or just buy an over the counter tag for open area's and go hunt.

It isn't too hard to get a Mountain Lion tag. Now bagging one is another story. They sell over the counter mountain lion tags. There is a set quota for them and when it is met the season ends for the unit you bought your tag in. So you buy your tag and each night you call an 800 number to see if the quota has been met. If you shoot one you have to call it in right away so the DOW can update the quota.

Unless you have dogs or just happen to know a rancher with one holed up on his place you will be beaten to the quota by hunters with dogs.

Other fun winter animals: Bobcat, Coyote, Rabbit, Squirrel, and of course there are birds. I like the smaller game since I usually get to shoot more than once. Unlike big game where it's a one shot kill.
