Yes I have done this and I have also broken a holster and bought a new gun instead of the holster.. Literally a couple days apart! Sometimes you just have to buy yourself something :-)

Yup, bought a 30.06 bolt gun to shoot 300 rds of free ammo. Bought a couple thousands rds of another caliber, but had to buy the rifle he had for sale too to get the ammo.
