    Default New Colt Ar 22lr

Has anyone tried one of Colts new AR 22lr out? Let me know what you think about it as I might be considering selling my GSG or G17 to pick one up.

    Thanks,
    J

I haven't tried one yet but would like to. one negative is that the it is its own gun so you can't swap any parts except the stock

I'm waiting for the Smith & Wesson M&P22-the Colt is actually made by an outfit called Umarex and I've heard there's some quality problems. Just my .02

Firing Line has both the M&P and the Colt right now... and the Colt is WAY better made IMO...

I was about 5sec from picking up the Colt, BUT what stopped me is that NOT ALL AR accessories will fit it.... first of all the Grip, the screw is in the wrong location.

So instead of constantly running into compatibility issues I am prolly just gonna get a dedicated upper instead... :/

I saw those posts the other day and still have a smile on my face. It's amazing how many bids they're getting!

that is hilarious about the COLT. I thought they were the best rifles in all the world!!!! I need to head over to ar15 and laugh at the "colt is the only ar15" guys.

    IMO

The way I look at .22 AR's is for training purposes.

The "Colt" has the 180 degree safety (aka full auto), and the bolt catch doesn't function. And as said before certain parts won't fit (grip). It is made of metal and weight wise feels like the real deal.

The S&W has a normal safety, working bolt catch.( which does offer some advantage over even a dedicated upper) But it is made of polymer, and is deigned a little different than a true are (no actual buffer tube so no single point sling mounting) But AR grips will work with the lower, Magpul MIAD reguires the A10 grip wedge, but it works. and the non-buffer buffer tube is mil spec.

I had the chance to play with both and went with the S&W

    But just my .02

The Colt one isn't actually made by Colt though I believe. They just put their name on it.
