    Default Internet in Kittredge

Well it seems my old thread asking about this was lost in the last crash or hack or whatever it was.
I'm finally getting around to getting internet in our house.
CenturyLink is a little cheaper and gives you a modem, and I had no issues with them in NC, but I recall something about their reliability in this area not being so great. Comcast is more expensive every month, and I have to buy my own modem. Is Comcast really $200ish better / is Century Link really that shitty?
The heaviest thing that the connection will see is streaming Netflix every now and then.

$200? I pay $70-something... Up there, I don't know for sure, but my mother has Comcast (she's over by the HS) and doesn't pay over $100. Comcast, in the Evergreen/Kittredge area is your most reliable and best quality option.

I pay $40 for Comcast and I use Netflix daily. I bought my own modem.

$200 is the ballpark guesstimated the cost of going with Comcast over CenturyLink, accounting for the cost of a modem plus the cost increase in the bills over the next year... not the monthly bill.

$200?!! I pay almost half that for X1 basic with the 105mbps highspeed.

I also bought my own modem.

CenturyLink in Evergreen is worthless, I would seriously consider satellite internet before CenturyLink. Go with comcast. Why do you have to buy the modem? I know that's an option (and actually a better one) but they should be able to provide one as well though a rental fee on it will be hidden in the bill just as CenturyLink will.

As I work with a couple of guys that work up there, the repair of service outages is likely faster with Comcast. But it is the a bit rural and access can get dicey. Comcast monitors their modems like crazy and the odds of you being down for more than a few hours is very small.

I must disagree. I'm on CL, bought my own modem and I'm getting 18-22 MB speeds. Not as fast as my comcast was in town but enough for us to run multiple downloads at once. Monthly bill is $43.
