Since this is the "Ask-A-Member: I Need Help With" forum, I live in Windsor and need some help lifting a tablesaw into my truck on Sunday morning, around 8:00ish. The neighbors I really like are too old, and the neighbors who are capable are kind of douchebags. In return, I offer my unending gratitude, coupled with a box of ammo of your choosing amongst 9/45/38/5.56/.308. If you enjoy lifting heavy things, are in the Windsor area, and available Sunday morning, please let me know.
And in related news, I rebuilt a saw. When I moved to Colorado in 2011, the moving company pretty much destroyed my contractor's saw. They piled a bunch of stuff on it with no support under it, both in the truck and in the storage unit. Destroyed the extension tables and bent the case so that the right side of the saw was 2" lower than the left. I got so irritated at the prospect of having to put time and money into it that I didn't touch it for years.
Late last year, I bought the tablesaw of my dreams for way too much money. I was going to give away my old one for scrap, but my wife suggested that I give it to my brother-in-law in Denver. I couldn't give it to him in good conscience in the condition it was in. So ironically enough, I put about $300 worth of hardware, materials, and time into a $350 table saw, that I now need to deliver to him on Sunday. For your viewing pleasure:
The movers did an epic job of smashing things to pieces. I had to replace all three melamine support surfaces.
God, what a lot of pocket holes to drill.
The top had a lot of surface rust, which came off reasonably quickly with some 220 grit sand paper and some WD40 to keep things lubricated. The surface actually shined right up and took a couple coats of paste wax pretty well.
Used carriage bolts as levelling feet on the extension wing and outfeed table.
