Did he shoot right after I got knocked out? I never put it together that he was your son. Very nice to meet you guys tonight!

Thinking about signing up for the next match - Monday, I assume. Will a 9mm shooting 147gr be able to put down pins well enough?
9mm - because they don't make a 9.1mm
I'm sorry I missed JohhnyEgo and GK when you guys left. Did you grab some food in the neighborhood?
Not_a_llama, you would fit right in at the 4th Wednesday match where there are no handicaps and everyone draws from a holster. Sign up for Mondays go fast, but I guess Wednesday has fewer shooters.

It should. Sometimes they go down, others, not like you want them to. IMO doesn't matter how heavy, light or caliber your running. I lucked out first run. Number 3 the mag i borrowed from another shooter, got hinky on me. Conveniently when i was shooting against the guy who lent it to me.
Be nice (depending on work & vacation schedules) to do an informal forum get together there. Or make it so others can spot you by hat, shirt, crappy shooting.

Running 9mm you have to be a little more spot on with shot placement where as 45 tends to take them right off the table. Last time I ran 9 I hit 5 pins with 5 shots but only 1 left the table and it was game over by the time I started clearing them.

So as a final observation for the night, there are a great many wonderful people there, and a few pure-bred assholes, which has been consistent week-to-week. Most shooters are really good guys who congratulate both those they win against and those they lose to. And then there are a couple who want to play head-games and push the limit of the rules, but cry out when they perceive somebody else as having an unfair advantage.
I got a lot of good-natured ribbing when I shot suppressed the last time I was there, and most of the folks I beat out were very gracious in defeat. People seemed to enjoy it for spectacle if nothing else, and I earned the dubious nickname of 'John the Assassin', but it was all in good fun. However, one individual tried to throw a fit when I beat him, stating that my can was a compensator and he felt it was unfair. RW and Brian graciously allowed me to carry on, and told the other individual he got beat and that was the end of it.
Edit on a re-read of Irving's response. Initially thought someone ratted him out about the steel case ammo. Bottom line is the vast majority of people there are really great people and really open to new shooters. And then there are one or two a-holes. I spanked the guy again who threw a fit on me last time, which made me very happy, even more-so then winning.

Math is tough. Let's go shopping!
Bristlecone has a written restriction on any steel ammo, so I'm sure their (the owner and range officers) reasoning wasn't based on any perceived advantage, but simply range rules. I didn't hear who brought it to their attention, but I'd like to hope they didn't do it due to poor sportsmanship, but rather out of interest in safety of the range. I know steel rounds can cause problems with the backstop.
