Irving's being modest. He had two exceptional achievements tonight.
    1. He made it to the finals and took 2nd place.
    2. He crushed the dreams and aspirations of a 13 year old boy on his very first shoot.

Moral of the story: Don't piss off Irving.

I had a good time. Shot the first round with my Glock 19, and did passably well. Shot the second round with my Kimber 10mm, which finally ran well again. Did better in that one until Irving spanked me in the semi-finals. Took third place overall. No 13 year old boy dreams were crushed in the making of my third place finish, so I am pretty content with the results.

I was watching all the videos, and while I didn't hear it at the time, you can clearly hear you saying on the video, "If my friend wins, I'm going to make fun of him for beating a 13 year-old boy. If he loses, I'm going to make fun of him for losing to a 13 year-old boy." I was actually really nervous about the 3 pins vs 5 pins and had no idea who I was shooting against until it was all over. The next round was against the guy that won the 5 o'clock where I had him, but stopped shooting at my last pin. I had the camera at a bad angle so you hardly see the pins at all, but man what a battle that one was! I wish the video were better.

Oh yeah I can be totally honest and say that there is a kid younger than the one tonight that shoots IDPA at both FRIDPA (Dumont) and ECOIDPA (CRC) that I sometimes have a hard time staying ahead of. His dad kicks my ass (and everyone else's ass) every week though.

It was really great shooting with you tonight. Let me know if you want me to post the video of our match. It was pretty dang close when you frazzled me at the end there.

Don't go to too much trouble, but if you want to post it, I certainly don't mind seeing how it looked from the other side when you beat me.
I can also prove to my wife that I really am going bowling pin shooting and not out looking for hookers and blow.
I enjoyed shooting with you as well. You were wicked fast with that Glock.
I have to be down in South Denver all next week, but I am going to try and make it again on Monday. The new handi-capping system certainly keeps it more challenging, and I liked that quite a bit.

Basically they said that as people got better, pretty much everyone was Green now, but within that group they still had Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced shooters, all shooting five pins. So they rolled a bunch of people back to Reds and Yellows. Also, before if you made it to the Semi-finals, you were shooting five pins no matter what. Now the handicap stays with you all the way through. The 5 pm match was between a Green and Yellow shooter.
They also said that if you win first or second place, you're ineligible to win anything for the next three weeks. You can still win the match, you just don't get any prizes. This will push the prize levels down and keep the newer shooters interested. They said that these matches tend to turn into trophy hunting matches where people would show up, see some good shooters there, then just go home and they don't want that to happen.

I was trying to pitch them on the idea that they look at what local poker tournaments do where they give nightly winners an entry token into a year end tournament with real cash prizes. Right now, if they skim $1 off each entry fee for the Monday night matches, they could have ~$1,100 in prizes at the end of the year. I suggested they bump the price from $12 up to $15, skim off $3 per entry and have ~$7,000 in cash prizes available for an end of the year tournament/s. I also suggested that the end of the year tournament could either be something like increasing distances at each round, or a candlestick pin match or something.

Sounds like good changes. I'll be there next Monday at the 7, maybe the 5 as well if I can swing it.

Im all for mixing it up. Hell I'd be willing to draw from holster against a less experienced shooter just to keep my game up.

Also been toying with brining something like the Shield or 43 to see how it goes.

I had the same exact thought actually. 3 or 4 pins can be scary against 5 though, but so many people (even the good shooters) are so slow on the first shot that if you are decent out of a holster it won't be that much more of a challenge.
