Monday night Pin Shoot @ Bristle Cone shooting.

I don't understand why everyone doesn't draw from the holster and shoot at 5 pins from 15 yards. How is anyone supposed to get better if it isn't hard? I didn't say anything earlier because I realized I can't comment since I haven't even attended. I'll have to see if I can break my Monday commitment some time to make it down there.

ETA: I imagine bowling pins is the step before a Texas star (which is my nightmare). Is that about right from you guys that have shot this match?

WAYYYYYYY late responding. From what i understand there was a guy in a wheelchair shooting a few weeks back. For someone like him or myself, shooting from holster may not be doable, or safe.
This is also set up as a fun shoot, based on what i've been reading. You want competition, bring some cash and let me know when you're going. I'll charge up the rascal and meet you there

This is about bringing people into the sport and having fun. Hard to bring someone new in and then have them get eliminated from the get-go because they suck at the draw from their Uncle Mike's holster. No draw, no reload from belt also means no additional equipment to buy. My understanding is that they will have a Wednesday night pin shoot including draw from the holster for the more competition minded.

I will be in for next Monday's shoots. Looking forward to it. Might try to shoot each one with a different pistol just to try things out. I've tried to come up with a way to describe myself other than 'generic white man #4'. The best that I can come up with is that I am polite and I carry my guns in a toolbox or bag. Please say 'hey' if you see me there.

They are having advanced pin shooting starting next week I think. It will be a separate night. Optics shoot in a different class. All draw from holster and shoot 5 pins. Must be holster certified by bristlecone.
Remember, bring pins if you can find some. I'm bringing them another 20 today.

I shot at 5- got eliminated in the semis. Didn't have a good feeling about today to start with!!

Shot at 5. Lost my first match. Then 2nd. Had my 10 yr old boy w me to cheer me on. No cheering, Instead he said " you should have practiced".

Ok... dudes.... we need to at least -try- to introduce ourselves. I think next time I'm there I'm just calling out before the match- "Anyone here from COAR?". I won't be there for the next few weeks though.

Yeah, shot the 7pm match, whole family again. Wife did better, her gun handling skills are improving. And new dawson sights on the 1911 did great. Now just need to slow down and actually hit the pins. Wife and I both eliminated right before the semis. My son did really good using his DAO sig p250, but got eliminated in the semis.
