I work pretty closely with the owners and R.W and some of the other guys setting things up and helping out. One thing that is GREATLY appreciated is honesty about your shooting ability and skill level. If you are a hack, then sign up as a noob. If you are a good shooter, than please say so and shoot as a "yellow" card shooter. If you shoot often and are good, please say so and shoot as a "Green" card shooter. Reds get 3 pins on the back of the table, yellow 4 pins in the middle, and green 5 pins in the front of the table. That's the handicap system. It is very bad form to say you are a new shooter and start winning because you are in the wrong handicap. It keeps happening and is very annoying and the other participants really get frustrated and you will become known as a sandbagger. Better to be in a handicap above your ability and shoot like crap and move down. If you are unsure, watch a match and get a feel for it first. Heck, just go and shoot at paper pin targets and see how well you do. R.W or the other staff will easily tell you where you should be. Just don't be one of those guys who everyone talks about after your done shooting. You want people to be pulling for you, not shaking their head because you are clearing 3 pins lightning fast when you should be clearing 4 or 5 fast.
Trust me, a few sandbaggers have been to the shoots and it left a really bad impression.

Looking forward to advanced pin shoot. Draw from holster, 6 pins, no handicap.

Im an ok shooter and this sounds like great practice.

Yeah, I went "yellow card" last time, and it was about right... I got knocked out early, but I'll stay at yellow for my next one.

And I heard (maybe wishful thinking) that the last couple rounds would be heads up, no handicaps, 5 pins vs 5 pins.... if it's not that way, it should be.

Maybe they should look at having the beginners shoot in their own group. 4 pins vs 5 pins is a good handicap. 3 pins vs 5 pins is a bit much.

Yeah if you make semi final it's 5 on 5. The thought it is you are good enough to make it there you can hold your own.

Maybe increase the handicap to 4 and green to 6? A strong green shooter can still clear the table faster than most can do 4.

Whateve then end up doing, it's still great fun and more important practice.

I must be living under a rock (or working too damn much), but I just now learned about this place. Plus, it is just down the street from my work. I'm definitely going to check it out soon.
