Reasonable Pricing on Michelin LTX MS2

When combined with manufacturer and DT rebates, plus no-interest financing, I've never found a better deal at Costco over DT. I don't even shop around any longer...always just go to DT and they treat me right.

I've never had the MS2...but I had a set of A/T 2s on a 3/4 ton truck and they were fantastic. Plus they were warranted for 60k miles.

I just put a set of Goodyear Duratracs on my truck about 1200 miles ago. Great in the snow but pretty loud. I'll have to see how they wear on a heavy truck.

I have to say the Guys at the Tower Rd DT had great customer service. They said the sale was only today and tomorrow, I couldn't bring the truck in so they let me buy them today, they even looked up all the info and returned my call all set up so I didn't have to hang on the phone, and are going to put them on next week when I get back in town. It was completely painless.

That's a reasonable price, I got mine at DT as well. Best tires I've ever had, great ride, much quieter than other tires I've had.

Those Michelins are the best all around truck tires on the market, IMO. I'm on my 5th set, the last of which cost about $902 total at Sam's, for 265x65 17. Now at 163K miles on the '03 Tundra. The OEM Dunlop were good for only 22K miles but I've gotten about 32-36K from the Michelins, which is remarkable given the roads, my loads, and the way I drive.

BTW, I did buy a previous set at Discount Tire when Sam's was out of stock, and their price was very close. Last summer though, Sam's beat them by $40 at the GJ stores.

Rule of thumb is after five years they start to become unsafe. Somewhere on the tires is a date code that tells when they were made.

I heard it was 8 years, but either way, the info on that is very true.

MS2's USED to be much better. I'm sorry to say that you will probably experience less miles on recent sets of these. It's not just our shop, but other shops in fleet situations like us. Perhaps in lighter duty vehicles that are not aggressively driven, you still MIGHT get decent mileage out of 'em, but I wouldn't buy them. We've heard that Michelin is aware of the problem on those tires, and will be fixing it.

Those tires used to be bad ass, I hope they get it back they way it was. Good luck.

I'm sorry, Griff. We stopped buying them about a year and a half ago. Our vehicles and similar fleets are 10,000 lb cars though, driven like stolen taxi cabs....we were lucky to get 15K / 17K miles out of them, whether O.E.M. or the first sets of replacements.

We got 25K / 30K out of the old formula on the same vehicles. I put the old MS on my ex wifes Escape, and they're awesome....I think the first set went over 60K.
