Exclamation Someone help a brother out - Primers

I did not get in on the frenzy of buying reloading components. I have powder, brass out the ying yang, and bullets, but no primers. I have 17 online retailers bookmarked and all of them are back ordered for at least 3 months (I check daily), and that is just an estimate. Local stores...yeah right.

Anybody coming to the July match willing to part with 1-2k small pistol primers so I can keep shooting? It should carry me until the middle of next year, and hopefully the stores will have them in stock by then and I can keep going on my own.

    $30 per thou.

Even if there were 3 or 4 guys willing to let loose of 300 each, anything will help. I only have enough ammo to get me through August.

Do you have any backordered? If not, fix that. If the vendors will let you.

Where do you live? There's a small shop in Ft. Collins that had several thousand last time I was in, but who knows now. They actually have tons of reloading stuff.

Hoser - Half the online places are not taking new orders, and I do have some on order with a couple of places. Shipping date - maybe sometime this year. It keeps getting extended.

Tristan - If I am lucky, they will still have some next weekend, unless you could swing by and grab some (2k max) for me. I will be working in Greeley through at least Tuesday (though I have to pack for an entire week). So I could meet up with you. My company is doing the paving of the northern leg/business route Hwy 34. I am in a company truck, I can not deviate from my route to and from, nor leave the job area/city otherwise I'd swing by there myself, presuming they stay open after 6pm.

The Walmart between Loveland and Ft. Collins had a bunch about 2 weeks back and they were $60/1000 so I assume that didn't go fast. I'm totally out but I have 60k on back order with Cabela's that just got pushed back 30 days. It was scheduled to ship on 6/30... I got an email this AM saying that it's not going to ship until 7/30. This is the second time they moved it back. I'm sure the kids will be back in school before I see them...

Well, I just called them and they are out. The only place I could find them was the walmart in Sterling. Sorry!

Thanks for checking for me Tristan. I think I am down to hoping someone who stockpiled will be willing to part with some. I made some calls to, and heard lots of laughter.

Can't help you...I have no primers. But, my strategy is sort of like what Hoser suggested...I found Cabela's would at least take the order at $29/1000, so I ordered 'em. I have no hope of actually seeing them this summer, but I AM assuming that since they took my order, I have them at $29/1000.

I also order 3 jugs of Clays from Cabelas, and those arrived in something like 3 days, about 4 days ahead of schedule. So, I have something to sniff at least. Nothing to reload, but lots of dreams of bright shiny cartridges coming off the line by the hundreds.

Like someone observed over at the Brian Enos forum...the shortage has improved my shooting skills significantly, I think. I've learned a lot dry firing and have spent more time actually laying out something close to a training plan (drawing from holster, acquiring sight picture/target), etc. A silver lining, as it were.

I've got 2 flavors of 3k ea. on order with Cabellas (still on back order - 3rd notice). I did however get in on some Wolf primers (5k) from Wideners and they showed up yesterday. I'm good for the next year or two. Would go longer but I picked up a Kel-Tec Sub 2000, so I suspect my consumption is going to go up.
