The deer herds where I live are way too large, and of course no hunting allowed. Memorial weekend was set aside for tree planting; 30 Aspen Seedlings, 25 Cottonwood Seedlings, 8 8ft Aspen, and 1 Maple as a trial. I sprayed them all with Deer Be Gone. The deer ate most of the 8ft trees, they ate the seedlings inside the dog fence; dumb dog was sleeping on the job. They even ate the Maple, which is suppose to be resistant to deer. I have about 17 seedlings left that I soaked in repellent. I need to plant aspen trees in the areas I cleared of douglas fir for fire mitigation. This sucks; I wished that we could harvest a few of those damn things so we could thin the herd a little. I have a 25 head herd that roams my lot daily with about 8 or so yearlings.
