Default Don't leave your gun in the crapper, especially if you're a Capitol Policeman

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015...cmp=latestnews

"Controlling your weapon ..." mused an incredulous Rep. Rich Nugent, R-Fla., at a Wednesday hearing, probing why three U.S. Capitol Police officers mistakenly left their loaded service firearms in Capitol restrooms this year. "That's like rule number one."Perhaps while doing number one, officers broke rule number one when they bid farewell to their arms in the congressional lavatories.
Nugent knows something about the best practices of law enforcement. He served for a decade as the sheriff of Hernando County, Fla. But it's doubtful Nugent ever had to make sure his cadets went through "toilet training" before graduating from the academy.
For Capitol Police, it's about to become part of the curriculum.
"We are now providing additional training on what to do when you have to go the bathroom," U.S. Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine told the House Administration Committee as it studied the spate of incidents in the loo.

Huh...I've been teaching that in my CCW classes for over 15 years. I just assumed everyone covered it...especially in LE.

Why do people unholster their guns in the bathroom?
Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

"Every time something really bad happens, people cry out for safety, and the government answers by taking rights away from good people."

Excellent question. It was not clear whether all of the officers were uniformed or plain clothes. If in uniform, the pistol probably remained in the holster but the whole gun belt was hung up while utilizing the facility. Those not in uniform would depend on where they wear the holster.

I personally do not remove my firearm from the holster when taking a personal relief. Life is easier when not carying but carying is a choice unless it is your profession. Different departments spend more or less time on the matter. It is usually covered initially in home safety. Learning to carry all of the time is something that begins toward the end of most acadamy classes.

Had that happen on my last trip overseas. Went out to the cadillac to take a crap and there is a pistol belt (with weapon) hanging on the door. So I grabbed it and walked back to the ECP for our compound and politely asked if anyone was missing something? Lets just say it was not that young mans best day when they were done with him.
