I feel the same way. I posted the letter to start a debate and see where everyone is on this.

I supported Bush his first term. And he did what he needed to protect this country. I give his respect for that. But on the other hand anything else that he did wasn't along the lines of the Obama nightmare but not any better either.

The way I look at it this. All of the current parties are corrupt and couldn't give a flying fuck about this country as long as they stay in power and have their high back leather seats behind a cherry wood hand crafted desk made by some freaking illegal in Mexico. That being said they know the welfare state is what will keep their asses smelling like new leather. VOTES.

I wish we could start over they way the founders of this country started. Yes they did some things wrong, but the power was in the hands of the people and States.

I'm a Marine, I train, I'm prepaired and I educate myself. That's all I'm ready to do at this time.

So my question is to anyone, more opinions the better, but what do WE do? I'm in my 30's two kids, a wife, and a dog (the perfect nuclear family)
I have no money, no political power, and just one voice and agree with most of the previous comments. So how do I get heard? A bunch of people I know, no of which knows what to do, want to be heard. Without looking, or sounding racist, or anti government, on immigration, our new leaders power, and their so called health care reform. What can I do? Load up, and wait? Theres gotta be more.

Educate yourself, educate others. Vote, write to the ass hats in office and keep letting them know you are watching them, you are 1 vote of many. But there's a growing number.

Attend TEA parties, city hearings, and keep the pressure on them. In reading history you will find that many times it was one voice that turned the tide. You don't have to be the "commanding" voice, but a voice of a US citizen that has the right to be heard.

Obama's numbers are falling. Why? Because his policies are a failure and a lot of the people that voted for him now see that they didn't have a choice in the matter.

Ass hat 1 or Ass hat 2. Not much to go on with they are both worthless pieces of shit. I have alot more respect for McCain due to his Military service and sacrifice.

I went on rambling again, but the first paragraph is what I would say to anyone who ask.

That has to be an individual decision. What type of effort are you willing to put out? What types of risks are you willing to take with your ability to provide for your family and maintain your freedom?

At the very start, you can keep yourself informed about the current activities of both houses of Congress at the state and national levels. When you see they are treading down a road that you are not comfortable with, contact them via eMail and telephone and get the word out to everyone you know that might share your view on the matter and encourage them to do as you did.

You could consider forming or joining political action groups.

The scale of things you can do continues to go up to more serious actions. Participating in or staging protests to outright civil disobedience.

I know someone who is a bit older and retired. This individual has clearly stated that, should the Blair Holt bill pass into law, they will refuse to abide by the law. This person is aware that they will be convicted (notice I said nothing about being charged or prosecuted) if found out. That is a risk this person is willing to take - and is hoping that millions of others are willing to take that same risk. Our current penal system could not accomodate that number of incarcerations. The problem with this train of thought is, while you may not go to prison, you would have a felony on your record which will effect job possibilities, etc.

Know that I'm not encouraging anyone to take any of the more severe actions, but I certainly encourage you to get involved politically and remind our elected officials that they work for us.

Learn. I would say reading Ayn Rand is probably the best way - that is the only fully consistent, principled defense of human liberty you'll find. If you're very religious, to the point of Rand's atheism bothering you, I would say Locke is your man. He was probably one of the brightest thinkers of the enlightenment and a great influence on the American system.

Americans are unique in that they are almost the only culture left with an almost universal desire to do the right thing. That is why all these arguments about how inefficient socialized medicine is will ultimately fail - because, to an American, doing the right thing is more important than doing the efficient thing. The fundamental issue is the question of altruism - does man morally owe the product of his labors to his neighbors, or doesn't he? If your answer is yes, it will lead you invariably to Obama, then socialism, then dictatorship. If your answer is no, it will lead you back to freedom, capitalism and prosperity.

So, to my religious pals here: read Locke. He's a smart guy. To those who aren't very religious, read Locke, then Rand. And then advocate for reason and individual rights. Arguments from faith, from tradition, and that man isn't good enough from socialism are what got us to where we are today.

I have to agree, Ayn Rand is probably the most influential writer I have ever read. After reading “Atlas Shrugged” and “The Fountain Head” my whole out look on freedom and government changed, I still re-read the books and they still provoke thought.

Lets please remember that it was GWB's appointee's that "Bailed" out the banks. It was Paulson and Giethner, who both (supposedly) proclaim to be free market thinkers and hate government incursions into the private sector. And they will soon ask for more bailout funds! There is plenty of shit you can heap on Obama, but please get your facts straight.

As for heathcare... well please go to perotcharts.com and look for yourself. Pretty soon the entire federal budget in its entirety will be dedicated to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The entire federal revenue! Now please consider that more and more Baby-Boomers are aging and want those benefits they were promised. With the revenues going down because of tax cuts and recessions how will "WE" (that's right you me and him) pay for this? The cost of heathcare in the US is doubling and tripling and the amount of revenue is not following pace. What do we do? I am open to suggestions. This also is not Obama's baby, he has just seen the numbers for himself. I only wish I had the same health plan as those assholes on capital hill who think everything is peachy.

I don't fear Obama, he is just another politician. He is no racist or devil or whatever he is being labeled this week. Just another in a long line of politicians.

This country is great because we try to do new things, and don't just sit on asses and bitch like a lot of countries around the world. If you want shit to stay the same.. build a time machine.

How about we stop expecting the government to "give" us healthcare "for free." Which just means we expect the govt to extort from those who have and give to those who don't.

Or housing or money or whatever.
