It amazes me when I hear people say "the government should fix this or that". They shouldn't do a fucking thing.

What is the purpose of government under capitalism?
It is to protect Rights that governments are instituted. A proper government's Only responsibility is to protect the rights of the individual, by banning the initiation of force, thus making all relations between men peaceful, i.e., free from the threat of violence and fraud.

I agree with that, but I think its wrong not to expect them to fix our problems as a country, state, city, etc. Thats why we vote them into office is it not? If they did nothing for me, but I pay my taxes, obey common laws, I would stop immediately and agree to watch out for me and mine speciffically. But that is why I asked earlier, what do I do, because I am not happy the way things are currently headed and would like to help to change that, and to me that means either changing the minds of those incharge or remove and replace with those that have the same agenda as most Americans. At the same time I understand the fears (maybe not fears) that some believe the only way things will get better is to rise against. When would you (anyone) decide when that point is? How would you decide when it was time to take up arms? I have no intention to tell you you are wrong, I just see it different.

They are there to support the States, not control them or demand that they do something on a federal level or risk losing funding for the States infrastructures.

They are there to protect us from foreign invasion or attack. To ensure that our Constitutional rights and Bill of rights are upheld by each of the states. The government is NOT there to settle a dispute between a LOCAL police officer who was doing his job and a Black Professor who claims the was mistreated due to his race. They are NOT there to provide health care to the masses, this is an individuals option to make it so or not. It is NOT up to the government to decide weather or not a State can have a seat belt law or not. It is NOT up to the goverment to FORCE a State to take Federal monies for something they do not want. Example... Alaska, Texas, Montana, and a few others who did not want to take any bail out money.
Is is NOT up to the government to bail out PRIVATE industry and make the citizens of this country pay for their failures. It is NOT the responsibility to bail out Kalifornia and make the other States and people of this country pay for their FAILED immigration policies, green energy bullshit or anything else. Kalifornia is the poster child State for running your State into the ground. NOT our responsibility!

There is no time to say when to take up arms and demand that those who have been elected from office be removed. It's more of a breaking point and I think this debate has been had on every forum and every watering hole you can think of millions of time. But I can tell you this. The talk of such an action is growing and people will only talk so much before they break.

Right now is not the time, the call for action is protest, emails, letters and calls to your representatives to profess dislike of the current environment and actions. When the majority of the people of this country out way the liberal mindset then things will either change or break.

This country has weakened from the days of past and will take a lot more to reach a breaking point.

Or he is using the blitsgreig tactic that Hitler used to take Poland, France and Spain. And that is attack hard and fast and don't stop until you've hit water. Attack so fast that noone knows what happened and when they figure it out, its to late. Someone had to write those thousand page bills that they keep passing without reading. Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations.. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-pickingthing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

Everybody is afraid. If you stand up, you get chopped down by the very people who say they are against chopping you down. There are an awful lot of BS laws and such out there. That's why I quit the SD. But several of my fellows, though disagreeing with some of the laws they upheld/uphold as their job, still enforce those laws.
Until the people hit the streets, it's all whining and crying for nothing.

New here, but lets give this a go.

I am a young and troubled voter. Married to another young and troubled voter. My wife and I were both fervent republicans in our formative years, both active college republicans. We were real believers in the party line.

I think Pancho nailed the key word to us, Principled. I have really felt that the Republican's principles are muddled. I have found no refuge of ethics in the Democratic party either. To clarify, the GOP recently added an piece to their platform seeking a Constitutional amendment to ban homosexual marriage. I am not trying to argue about gay marriage, what bothers me deeply about this is using our Constitution, a document as a whole used to protect our freedoms and keep Washington government out of our lives, to get government into people's lives. This really rubs me all kinds of the wrong way, because what happens after that's done, what's next on the rights chopping block? guns? religious freedom? choice on schools? I think this is an issue that could be left to the States with no problems, under Amendment 10. In a way it seems like I am only worried about a slippery slope, but frankly I agree with the NRA's stand on protecting rights, not giving up one inch without a fight.

In terms of one voice, I have to say, I am friends with quite a few young republicans with a bad taste in our mouth all looking for the same thing. In a way, many many similar voices looking for the same thing.
